Taste & Flavour
If you drink the tap water, use it for washing food, for cooking or making drinks then you want it to be safe and taste okay. If the water does not appear clear, if it has malodours, or if it has an unpleasant taste, then generally your senses will be telling you that perhaps this water should not be taken.
Natural water from lakes, lochs, rivers and ground aquifers is often coloured with humic acids such as peaty matter. Generally these components are safe, however the water companies use a coagulant to remove colour and fine solids from the water. The coagulant commonly used includes Aluminium salts. However aluminium has been linked with possible health problems.
