Chlorine
In all cases there will be chlorine in our tap water. Chlorine is essential to insure the eradication of pathogenic bacteria. However, chlorine is in itself a carcinogen. When chlorine combines with organic matter it forms chloramines, which are even more carcinogenic. Even at the chlorine levels used in water, it is still not sufficient to kill cryptosporidians or giardia cysts. These organisms cause serious problems and all countries, and the DWI report on some cases in the UK.
